I understand the frustration and embarrassment that IBS can cause. Years ago, when I was a student Dietitian, I often found myself bloated and uncomfortable.  I felt frustrated that I could not work out why I felt so awful, despite learning all this amazing stuff about nutrition. 

It started to affect my quality of life. Eventually, I started to say no to social events, because I knew it would only lead to me feeling worse.  At this time, IBS wasn’t very well known and there was little information available to guide me (Remember, this was over 20 years ago).

As the years went by....

As the years went by, my IBS would come and go,  like an annoying acquaintance you just can’t get rid of.  It kept flaring up at the most inappropriate times and after a while I started to notice a pattern. 

My IBS was at its worst during the most stressful times in my life;  those times where I did not have time for myself, did not have time to even stop for a meal! I started to learn more about IBS and am committed to continue to learn more everyday. 

Disorder of the Gut-Brain

IBS is known as a disorder of gut-brain interaction and today we have a few more tools available, such as the low FODMAP diet.  We know so much more about IBS and we are continuing to learn even more every day.

As I started to understand what triggered my IBS, I was able to predict when it was likely to flare up.  I was able to work out how to manage and control my symptoms, so that it did not have to stop me in my tracks when I needed to run at high speed. 

 

Today, my mission is to help IBS sufferers who feel bloated and uncomfortable and struggle with the often debilitating symptoms of IBS.  I love to help those who feel just as frustrated as I used to feel provide a roadmap to a healthy, happy gut.   

My Training

Being fascinated by all things gut related,  I trained to an advanced level through King’s College London and Monash University (Australia) on the use of the Low FODMAP diet.  

I am now confident in managing my own IBS through diet and lifestyle. 

I believe it is possible for you to also take control with confidence and live a life FREE from feeling bloated and uncomfortable.
